Liverpool Engineering Works has successfully completed a major marine fabrication project, delivering specialist anchorage systems and sea fastening works for the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant marine construction project in South Australia.
Over a four-month period, our experienced team worked alongside our valued client to complete the installation of engineered anchorage systems and heavy-duty sea fastening solutions on two marine barges. A 55.5-metre crane barge and a 55.5-metre supply barge that will play a vital role in the construction of the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant.
As specialists in marine fabrication, structural steel fabrication, heavy welding, and site installation, Liverpool Engineering Works was entrusted with ensuring both barges were fully prepared for the demanding marine environment and the safe transportation of critical construction equipment.
Supporting Australia’s Largest Infrastructure Projects
These are the very same barges that previously supported the construction of Tasmania’s iconic New Bridgewater Bridge, one of Australia’s most significant bridge infrastructure projects.

Specialist Sea Fastening and Anchorage System Installation
Sea fastening is a critical component of marine logistics, involving the design and installation of engineered steel structures that securely restrain equipment, machinery and cargo during transport by sea.
For this project, Liverpool Engineering Works completed the installation of custom anchorage systems and sea fastening components to ensure the crane barge and supply barge were capable of safely transporting and supporting equipment during offshore construction operations.
Every stage of the project demanded precision fabrication, certified welding, detailed quality assurance and strict compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
Our skilled fabrication and site teams worked collaboratively throughout the four-month program to deliver the project safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
Bound for Port Lincoln
Following the successful completion of all fabrication and installation works, both barges departed Hobart for Port Lincoln, South Australia, where they will support the marine construction works for the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant.
